The NDIS Review is coming to Newcastle
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Review panel is heading to Newcastle on Tuesday, 22 August to talk with the local disability community about the review.
The Review Panel will be at the Newcastle Exhibition and Convention Centre, where the community can hear about what the Review has found, and what the next steps are.
People with disability, their families and carers are invited to join the panel for morning tea from 10 am with the town hall to follow.
Hosted by NDIS Review co-chair Lisa Paul AO PSM, the Panel will be discussing the challenges raised in the recently published ‘What we have heard report – Defining problems to designing solutions’ and the big changes required to build a better NDIS.
Professor Bruce Bonyhady AM, Co-chair of the Review will discuss what changes are needed urgently.
“Tinkering with the Scheme as it is today will not be sufficient to meet all the future challenges. We need to ensure it continues to take its place side-by-side with Medicare as one of the outstanding pillars on which the decency and fairness of Australian society stands.” Professor Bonyhady said.
“The challenges facing the NDIS did not develop overnight and they will not be fixed overnight. However, the sooner we start the better.”
The event will be streamed online from 11 am, with live captioning and AUSLAN interpretation also available.
